Serge Nazarieff
Early Erotic Photography
Benedikt Taschen Verlag Köln, 1994
200 pages, numerous b&w & colorized images;
English, French, German language
This large format book presents an overview of early erotic photography, beginning with the first known erotic photographs in the 1840s to daguerreotypes from 1849 to 1861. It is amazing to see, how artistically these old photographs got colored in very natural pastel colors, making them look almost like classic paintings.
Chapters are assigned to early French photographers Auguste Belloc, Bruno Braquehais, Philippe Derussy, Louis Jules Duboscq-Soleil, Alexis Gouin, Felix Jacques-Antoine Moulin and Louis-Camille d'Olivier. Moulin was the first photographer specializing on nude portraits in 1849.
