In his biography James Gardiner collects the available information for one of the greatest stars of the Belle Epoque, the almost forgotten Gaby Deslys. Solo and later with her partner Harry Pilcer, the girl from Marseille developed to one of the most celebrated artists on theatre and variety stages in Europe and America. With her charm, charisma, her dancing style and her gorgeous dresses and feather hats, some of them designed by the ingenious designer Erte, she was the protagonist for the much more known Mistinguett.

The books provides numerous b&w photographs from the authors collection, some of them not published previously.
