Clarissa Rose Campbell, moving from Australia along America to Paris, became famous under the name Saharet as a Can-Can dancer at Paris' music halls, where she debuted at the Folies Bergère in 1897. Next to numerous photographic portrait series Saharet was also portrayed by painters like Franz von Stuck and Franz von Lenbach in Munich.
