Arlette Dorgère
(Anna Mathilde Irma Jouve)
* June 8th 1880, Paris (France)
† 1965
Mlle. Jouve was performing by her artist name Arlette Dorgère as a singer, actress and dancer at various variety theatres in Paris and was portrayed in a lot of series by the famous photographer Léopold Reutlinger. His photographs document her stunning beauty and her gorgeous dresses. There is also a very famous poster-painting of Arlette Dorgère by Jules Cheret for the "Scala".
Surprisingly in contrast to her popularity at the time of the Belle Epoque, we couldn't find more detailed information about her biographical data and career.
It is known that she had her first appearance at Paris at the Théâtre des Variétés in Claude Terrasse's operetta "Le Sire de Vergy" on April 16th 1903.
She also appeared 1912 as Colette in "La bonne veille Coutume".
We read that she owned a castle called Vigneux-sur-Seine from 1904 until 1930.
Recently we found a vintage poster, announcing her in a fantasy-opera called "La Princesse des Flirts" performed at the Parisiana.
